Lights
By Lettrice
What I enjoy most about Christmas
Among the many delights
Is solemnly sitting by the porch
Looking at the lights
The lights that glitter like the stars
The ones around each house
For it brings something glad into my heart
When I see them about
I know not what is inside of me
That stirs around this sentiment
Perhaps it’s how lights reflect on the souls
Of Christmas’ merriment
What glee, what glee! What solemn glee!
Yet I shed some tears
For Christmas lights end by Christmas night
And I’ll have to wait again ‘til next year
