Seasons
The first was spring like melting of last snow
Like a breath of fresh air, of new life, love
Summer followed when the world is aglow
As fireflies flicker, only warmth above.
My passion is fervent, so strong, so pure
Hold it close in your heart like fragile glass
Keep it forever my feelings secure
Gaze at me only as the seasons pass.
But to part is predestined, so gently
Break promises true lest unreal hope spurs
And to wish is for naught, so tenderly
Trace cheeks long dried until your visage blurs.
For nothing’s left and ev’rything long gone
bind me tightly— or let me come undone.
